The Chapter Today

Chapter House in 2006

Since completion of the chapter house in 1933, over 1,000 brothers have shared the memorable experience of living in our Chapter house. The Alumni Corporation Board (ACB) has spent many thousands of dollars and man hours over the years maintaining and improving the house, but 70 years of wear and tear is catching up. Rent revenues from active brothers are no longer sufficient to meet much tougher requirements imposed by the City of East Lansing, and to make the improvements necessary to insure another 70 years of Delta Sig memories. These improvements include: adding high-speed communication access to all rooms; installing an up to date fire alarm system; completing a major face-lift to public areas; providing an area for educational and meeting activities on the first floor; reconfiguring the lower level for student activities; and many other needed improvements to the structure and mechanical systems.

The Capital Campaign for Alpha Pi was created to achieve the improvement goals of the chapter and the ACB.

Current Projects

Electrical Wiring Replacement

The chapter house's electrical wiring system was not designed for the modern student. Today, the average student has a computer, mini-fridge, stereo, tv and a number of other wall-powered items. To keep competitive with other housing options, the chapter requires the rewiring of several of its floors to handle the electrical load and to ensure the safety of the chapter's occupants.

Please email the ACB Treasurer if you would like to donate directly to this project.

Capital Campaign Phase III

The final phase of the Capital Campaign consists of the renovation of the chapter house's first floor. A new room will be added as well as an additional, more easily accessible bathroom.

"War Room" Rennovation - Fall 2007

Several brothers took it upon themselves to refinish the open room on the first floor just outside of the President's room, referred to by actives and young alumni as the "War Room." Actives donated their own time and money to re-carpet and paint the room as well as adding a projector screen and an entertainment system (that included a HD projector). Special thanks to Grant Attenberger, Andrew Wilterink and Alex Fike for their hard work.

The project included:
